First-Order System Least-SquaresMethods for a Flux Control Problem by the Stokes Flow

چکیده
This article deals with a first-order least-squares approach to the solution of an optimal control problem governed by Stokes equations. As with our earlier work on a velocity control by the Stokes flow in [S. Ryu, H.-C. Lee and S. D. Kim, SIAM J. Numer. Anal., 47 (2009), pp. 1524-1545], we recast the objective functional as a H1 seminorm in the velocity control term. By introducing a velocity-flux variable and using the Lagrange multiplier rule, a first-order optimality system is obtained. We show that the least-squares principle based on L2 norms applied to this system yields the optimal discretization error estimates for each variable in H1 norm, including the velocity flux. For numerical tests, multigrid method is employed to the discrete algebraic system, so that the velocity and flux controls are obtained. AMS subject classifications: 65M55, 65N30, 49J20, 49K20

متن کاملExtension Ability of Reduced Order Model of Unsteady Incompressible Flows Using a Combination of POD and Fourier Modes
In this article, an improved reduced order modelling approach, based on the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) method, is presented. After projecting the governing equations of flow dynamics along the POD modes, a dynamical system was obtained. Normally, the classical reduced order models do not predict accurate time variations of flow variables due to some reasons. The response of the dynam...

This paper develops a least-squares approach to the solution of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in primitive variables. As with our earlier work on Stokes equations, we recast the Navier-Stokes equations as a first-order system by introducing a velocity flux variable and associated curl and trace equations. We show that the resulting system is well-posed, and that an associated least...
متن کاملIncompressible laminar flow computations by an upwind least-squares meshless method
In this paper, the laminar incompressible flow equations are solved by an upwind least-squares meshless method. Due to the difficulties in generating quality meshes, particularly in complex geometries, a meshless method is increasingly used as a new numerical tool. The meshless methods only use clouds of nodes to influence the domain of every node. Thus, they do not require the nodes to be conn...

The present work introduces a modified scheme for the solution of compressible 2-D full Navier-Stokes equations, using Flux Vector Splitting method. As a result of this modification, numerical diffusion is reduced. The computer code which is developed based on this algorithm can be used easily and accurately to analyze complex flow fields with discontinuity in properties, in cases such as shock...
